Don’t Let The Don’ts

Rule Your Lives

Don’t fear leaving, don’t fear staying
Don’t fear giving, don’t fear taking.
Don’t fear the Russians or the plague
Don’t fear being spot on or being vague.
Don’t fear feeling somehow out of place
Don’t fear being unsure of your true face.
Don’t fear the quiet, don’t fear the noise
Don’t fear worries of losing your joys.
Don’t fear the darkness or the light
Don’t be heartless when you’re right.
Don’t fear myself, don’t fear you
Don’t fear regrets of what I didn’t do.
Don’t fear my brother or sister too
Don’t claim doing what you didn’t do.
Don’t fear being alone with just yourself
Don’t fear being with anyone else.
Don’t fear aging, don’t fear death
Don’t fear raging over what you can’t get.
Don’t fear cancer or the pain
Don’t curse the thunder or the rain.
Don’t fear confusion or your fears
Don’t fear uncertainty amid your tears.
Don’t fear getting closer or feeling apart
Don’t fear an ending or a start.
Don’t fear wanting what you can’t have
Don’t fear getting the things you can.
Don’t fear breaking your bones
And don’t fear leaving home.
Don’t fear things you’ve never seen
Don’t fear places you’ve never been.
Don’t fear questions never asked
Don’t fear answers you can never grasp.
Don’t fear disappointment and losing it all
Don’t fear standing while knowing you may fall.
Don’t fear going blind or deaf
Don’t fear this may be your last breath.
Don’t fear the future or the past
Don’t fear the present as long as it lasts.
Don’t fear what they think about you
Don’t fear what they don’t think about you.
Don’t fear your thoughts or the void
Don’t fear all that you might enjoy.
Don’t fear the nightmares or the demons
Don’t fear the dreams in any seasons.
Don’t fear knowing you can never return
Don’t fear never having money to burn.
Don’t fear the sun, don’t fear the light
Don’t fear the dark or just being right.
Don’t fear hoping for what you can’t have
Don’t fear never hoping at all.
Don’t fear the ghost of your father
Don’t fear saying why bother.
Don’t fear knowing yourself
Don’t fear never understanding all the books on the shelf.
