Going To Hell?

My brain is exploding in a million directions, none good.

Democracy is defined as “a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives” and “control of an organization or group by the majority of its members.”

It’s also referred to as “government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.”

The opposite is tyranny or a dictatorship. So where are we going?

Hans Christian Andersen could have written “The Emperor’s New Clothes” in 2020. The folktale is about a vain emperor who gets exposed before his subjects. Sound familiar? The tale was written in 1837 and has been translated into more than 100 languages, so I guess President Misery wasn’t the first and won’t be the last vain emperor to lose his clothes and be uncovered.

The current emperor has no clothes, he is made of glass. We are seeing what President Misery, his hangman Mitch McConnell and others really believe. As Dylan wrote, “Even the president of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked” and Trump is as naked as a jay bird, which, if you’re interested was coined in the 1920s and 1930s America, when J-bird was short for jailbird and the prisoners were brought in from the bus, went to the showers were given their supplies and made to walk from one end of the prison to the other naked. Hence naked as a j-bird — or jaybird.

Trump et al are doing a mass strip tease, for all the world to see what they are really all about, a real pole dance and it ain’t pretty, in fact it’s pretty nauseating.

Are we closer to :

A. Civil War

B. A totalitarian state

C. A peaceful resolution based on the form of government as outlined in the Constitution.

I tend toward B., a totalitarian state; with A., civil war, a distinct possibility, although I don’t know how that would play out because red states contain some good people and blue states are all good. As for C., a peaceful resolution based on the form of government outlined in the Constitution, I would say it is more likely that Rasputin will rise again from the ashes of Czarist Russia and declare himself supreme leader, although that might be an improvement over the current state of affairs.

I have an easy solution to this whole mess, which is:

The president takes a solemn oath to represent all Americans. Trump represents only red states. Therefore, he is violating his oath and is disqualified as president. Did I mention that he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by almost 2.9 million votes? But you probably heard that before.

I think it says somewhere that the president and congress should be honest and forthright or maybe that’s just implied or maybe it was some fairy tale I dreamed about that has no basis in reality or maybe it was more of the crap I learned in high school.

When President Obama wanted to name a replacement for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Mitch “The Turtle” McConnell said, for all to hear, far and wide, from sea to shining seat, that it would be unfair to the American public to let a president name a new justice when the election was less than a year away, so the next president, even if he is Obama, should decide and the people will have been represented fairly.

McConnell said yesterday, for all to hear, far and wide, from sea to shining sea, that President Misery should name a new justice now, before the election, and the Senate will vote to confirm a justice to replace Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The likelihood is the new justice will not be a liberal. Ha ha ha. Can you spell hypocrisy? Can you spell fascism? Or liar?

Another point is that the majority rules in a democracy or that’s what they told me. I know this current band of thugs wants to wipe out constitutional protections for a woman’s right to choose. But national polls consistently show the majority of Americans support a woman’s right to choose. So, therefore, the right to choose should remain. Right.

Wrong. The abortion debate will be decided by a group of judges who are predisposed to taking down the Roe v. Wade decision and they will be supported by the loud, obscene minority who have managed to vote their representatives into office, even though they don’t stand for the majority of voters. Oy vey.

And then there is the accepted principle, until now, quaint as it may be, that our leaders should just keep it simple and try to do the right thing. But I do recall reading about something called the Civil War when the south left the union because they didn’t want to give up slavery, which all people of conscience would agree is the worst abomination this country has ever experienced. And then there was the trail of tears, invasions of other countries, but don’t get me started.

So much for doing the right thing.
