Trump Is Much Worse Than He Appears And MAGA Will Pay

Phil Garber

Trump is every bit as bad as you think he is and the violence and lawlessness he encourages are every bit as real as you fear they are.

Trump’s strategy to win in November in simple: Terrify Americans into believing that only he can protect the nation from annihilation from within and without.

The most damaging result of a trump victory in November would be the annihilation of truth and the death knell for democracy. Trump promises to bring back the U.S. to a fairy tale time, morning in America, but really it would be mourning in America. He wants to drag America down into his world of ignorance to return to a shameful period of nightmarish prejudice, anti-Semitism, xenophobic hatred, sexual misogyny and economic balance so far out of whack that it will be impossible to fix.

Trump is so consumed by anger and in turn, seeks to transfer that rage to his willing supporters as his speeches are filled with vile, unsubstantiated, sophomoric taunts. This is the role model he seeks to become for our children.

After all trump has said and done, he simply cannot be believed and if the leader of the free world cannot be believed, the people are reduced to mere observers and no longer participants.

If trump is reelected, the nation will be led by a gruesomely entertaining, evil clown who will make people giggle while he destroys the nation from within and while he is denigrated and mocked from leaders around the world. His childish attempts at diplomacy will only bring the world closer to destruction.

He has utter contempt for democracy and will again make a mockery of the democratic system, claiming that he may again deny losing if he is defeated in November. He may once again call on his troops to rise again in violence. Already he is infecting many of his sycophantic lawmakers who are hemming about whether they will accept results of a 2024 election. He has successfully convinced many of his followers of the preposterous and completely disproven claim that he was indeed the victim of voter fraud in 2020.

He will give more to those who have the most and take more from those who have the least. He will reward the loyalists but God protect those who oppose him.

He offers simplistic, fantastic “solutions” to the world’s problems, from the Russian invasion of Ukraine to Israel’s war against Hamas, each which trump says he could solve in a week. He would send in the National Guard to stop Americans from legal protest and prosecute officials deemed disloyal to him.

His answer to deadly school shootings is to arm the teachers and make it even simpler for anyone to buy weapons, including semi-automatic rifles, making it more likely that even more people could die in mass shootings.

If a crisis is too complex for his small mind to understand, he will resort to simplistic solutions that are tailored to win support and nothing else. Or he will claim the problems simply don’t exist or offer ridiculous solutions, like backing the use of unproven drugs to stop the COVID-19 pandemic to mocking global climate change, calling it a hoax, while millions die from extreme weather events and the environment is further eviscerated by big oil.

If the problems are not really that bad, he will invent them, offering a dystopia that is not reflected in reality. Like his invented “invasion” of immigrants who are causing “the plunder, rape, slaughter and destruction of the American suburbs, cities and towns.”

Or his incessant screams about the overarching dangers of LGBTQ community and transgender people who he warns will crowd out heterosexuals from men’s and women’s rooms while making a mockery out of sports where transgenders will throw shotputs.

Meanwhile too many Americans watch the made-up, horror movie as they sit safe and comfortable in their easy chairs, remote in hand, Netflix on demand. He will offer solutions that cannot be implemented, like a wall funded by Mexico; as he convinces people that in his alternate universe, foreign nations are emptying their jails and psychiatric hospitals and sending the miscreants to destroy America.

Trump offers simplistic solutions that are the stuff of dictators, purely for the consumption of his minions. A recurring theme is to create a police state and he has vowed to offer “immunity from prosecution” for police. The dangers of such policies are obvious and immense for the black and brown communities where police could act without consequences.

He would act for swift execution of any prisoners on death row, further eroding the constitutional guarantees of fair legal representation and further endangering the black and brown communities, who comprise a majority of those unfairly and cruelly facing the death sentence.

He has promised to dismantle the federal Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, jeopardizing the health coverage for millions of Americans.

Trump’s power is pervasive and has largely insulated him from criminal prosecutions, until recently. Few people have been willing to come forward and testify against trump, just like the number of those defying high ranking mob figures is extremely rare.

Former trump fixer Michael Cohen is in rarified company in testifying against his former boss. In 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to eight counts including campaign-finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud. Cohen said he violated campaign-finance laws at trump’s direction “for the principal purpose of influencing” the 2016 presidential election. In November 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to U.S. congressional committees about efforts to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Cohen agreed to later testify against trump and was sentenced to three years in federal prison and fined $50,000.

Others who famously “ratted” against their bosses include Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano, the former underboss of the Gambino crime family. His testimony led to prison for the former Gambino boss John “Teflon Don” Gotti. It didn’t work out well for Gravano who refused to enter the witness protection program and later served 16 years in prison on federal and state drug charges.

Another felon who famously flipped to testify against his boss was the former Enron chief financial officer, Andrew Fasto. Fasto testified against former chief executives Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling. Fastow was indicted in October 202 by a federal grand jury on 78 counts, including fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy. He pleaded guilty to two counts of wire and securities fraud and agreed to serve a 10-year prison sentence. The sentence was reduced to six years after he agreed to become an informant and cooperate with federal authorities in the prosecutions of other former Enron executives.

Fastow could not keep out of trouble and in May 2004, his wife, a former Enron assistant treasurer, pleaded guilty to a tax charge and was sentenced to a year in prison.

And then there was the rare top trump advisor, Rick Gates, who testified against trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Gates and Manafort were both indicted in October 2017 on charges related to their consultation work with pro-Russian political figures in Ukraine. Gates agreed to testify and in 2019, he was sentenced to 45 days’ jail and three years of probation.

Manafort was convicted on eight counts of bank and tax fraud related to his work as a political consultant in Ukraine and was sentence to 47 months in prison.
